Wir starten das Jahr auch gleich mit einer Reihe illustren Gästen: Mit dabei Jeff Samuel, der sich nach längerer Pause endlich wieder hinter die Plattenteller locken lässt, um uns mit seinem unvergleichlich Mix aus weirden reduzierten technoiden Sounds und cooler Funkiness zu beglücken. Seine Platten auf Labels, wie Logistik, Poker Flat oder Trapez sind jetzt schon Klassiker. In der Holzhütte unser Lieblings DJ Toby Deschamps, der ja schon fast eine Festanstellung bei den Festplatten Abenden innehält. Mal sehen ob auch diesmal Aussdauer von DJ und Publikum weit in die Überstunden gehen wird. Und nicht zu vergessen, die gastgebenden Teichmann Brüder, die sich seit in den letzten Monaten durch ausgiebige Albumtour etwas rar gemacht haben. As we are completely crazy about the new electronic music genre called Skweee from Skandinavia, it was a must to present it in Berlin. Skweee is a slow motion, analoge, electronic funk with a lot of weirdness and as the Skweee scene is getting more and more global, there are more different influences in it: Easy + Center of the Universe are playing with drums and saz and Ya Tosiba aka DJ Zuzu is singing Azerbaijani lyrics to Skweee grooves. Beside one of the legendary live battles between Finnlands Harmönia label and Flogsta Danshall from Sweden, we invited US abstract Hip Hop icon Dabrye for a dj set and viennas Patrick Pulsinger with his band. Nicht nur das eine grosse Runde alter Freunde zusammen feiern wird, es sind auch allesamt DJs die schon sehr lange hinter den Tellern, aber auch schon lange hinter den Kulissen des Techno-Business stehen. Wir gucken quasi mal hinter die Bühne. Riley Reinhold, auch bekannt als Triple R oder RRR ist als Betreiber der Labels Trapez, My Best Friend und Traum schon lange ein wichtiger Teil der Kölner Szene. Er ist seit 1984 aktiver DJ und war unter anderem auch Mitbegründer von Kompakt und der De:Bug. Und so kommen wir direkt zu unserem zweiten Gast: DJ Bleed. Erst ist ähnlich lange als DJ aktiv, den meisten aber als Journalist und Chef der De:Bug bekannt. Seine Platten-Sammlung könnte man getrost als DAS Archiv der elektronischen Club-Musik bezeichen. Strobocop, ebenfalls aus Köln, steht hinter den beiden Labels Karaoke Kalk und Kalk Pets und ist den Berlinern z.B. von der regelmässigen Residency mit seinem DJ-Kollegen Mike Grinser im Club der Visonäre bekannt. Mike hat neben seinen Solo-Releases auf Kalk Pets mit seinem Projekt "Dakar & Grinser" elektronische Pop-Geschichte geschrieben. Festplatten Family 13.08.2011, Suicide Circus, Berlin.

DJs: Clé (Märtini Brös, Pokerflat, Berlin) Toby Deschamps (CDV, Festplatten, Berlin) Special Skwee Live-Set: Mesak (Harmönia, Klakson, Finnland) Die Festplatten Familie lädt wieder zum Tanz ins Suicide und freut sich am 13.08. auf viele alte Bekannte, aber auch auf neue Freunde: So heissen wir im Garten Harmönium Labelmacher Mezak willkommen. Mezak ist Miterfinder und Protagonist des elektronischen Zeitlupenfunks Namens Skwee, welcher gerade von Finnland und Schweden aus die Welt erobert. Eine Kostprobe davon wird uns Mesak mit einem Liveset im Garten vorstellen. Humberto Polar, der zweite Livemusiker des Abends kommt aus Mexico City. Humbertos Musik lotet die Schnittstelle zwischen percussivem Techno und südamerikanischen Einflüssen aus und passt so ganz wunderbar zu einer heissen Sommernacht. An den Plattentellern wiederum versammeln sich viele alte Bekannte des Berliner Nachtlebens: DJ Clé, eine Hälfte der Märtini Brös und Berliner DJ der ersten Stunde, wird mit Toby Deschamps im Garten housen, während die fantastische Acid Maria und die gastgebenden Teichmänner sich dem Suicide annehmen. Und eins haben sie alle gemeinsam: Hier kommen noch echte Platten auf die Teller!

Auf Kraut & Rüben mixen sie ihre Favoriten des Label-Backkatalogs zusammen zu einem großartigen, alle Genres kreuzenden Etwas und führen die Zuhörer in bisher unbekannte Gefilde. Natürlich sind die beiden auch bei dieser Record Release Party dabei. Ebenso wie der Labelboss Markus Detmer, dessen DJ-Mixe mindestens ebenso breit gefächert sind wie der Katalog seines Labels. Vor allem aber gibt es zu diesem Anlass einen sehr seltenen und sehr besonderen Gast zu sehen und zu hören: Schlammpeitziger. Seit Veröffentlichung seiner ersten Cassette auf dem Kölner Traditionslabel Entenpfuhl 1993 gewährt Jo Zimmermann aka Schlammpeitziger einem internationalen Publikum Einblicke in seinen privaten Kosmos. Der Musiker, Zeichner und Erfinder nicht enden wollender Songtitel mit dem derben, wiewohl feinsinnigen Humor hat einen unverwechselbaren Stil geprägt. Lo-fi sounds, verschrobene Melodien, absurde Tonaufnahmen - alles kommt zusammen in seinen Arbeiten. Es ist eine große Ehre, diesen Künstler zur Release Party präsentieren zu können, und sein Live-Auftritt wird mit Sicherheit etwas Besonderes werden. Insbesondere, da er die Videokünstlerin Ulrike Göken mitbringt, um mit ihr gemeinsam ein audio-visuelles Fest zu veranstalten! Ebenfalls live tritt Andrew Pekler auf, der mit seiner verträumten Musik ebenfalls ein Schmankerl darstellt. Seine Mischung aus elektronischen Elementen und auf diversen Instrumenten live eingespielten Sounds definiert seinen Stil. Seit vielen Jahren ist er dabei, hat auf Labels wie ~scape, Staubgold und Kranky veröffentlicht und mit jedem Album ein neues Statement abgeliefert. Toll. Abgerundet wird der Abend durch Peter Grummich, der ja ebenfalls bereits einen DJ-Mix der Serie geliefert hatte.
